R&B was tasked with developing the mobile versions of a critical tool used by hundreds of employees across two leading North American automobile dealer networks. The dealer staff was relying heavily on a web tool that provided information on automobile accessories – pricing, configurations, availability, etc.
This accessory resource tool was an important value add for salespeople and dealership staff as they would interact with customers as well as perform their daily work. There was a tremendous need to develop mobile versions of this accessory resource tool so that information would be available to the dealership staff wherever they were.
Developing a proper mobile version of a legacy web tool like this accessory tool required careful planning and coordination with the IT staff within the dealership network.
Dealerships sell many different vehicle models, and for each model there are hundreds of accessories and options that must be tracked and displayed. Image sizing and display was critical. Similarly, any viable mobile implementation would have to run flawlessly on multiple browsers and on multiple mobile devices.
R&B was able to develop a mobile architecture to successfully meet all requirements of the auto dealerships.
The new accessory resource tool has enabled R&B's automotive clients to respond more rapidly and accurately to both internal accessory related requests as well as requests from new customers. Over time, the accessory tool, along with a backend database, should increase inventory cycle times and decrease inventory writeoffs and parts obsolescence. Overall dealership efficiency is also enhanced as staff can quickly answer questions without taking extra time to go find a computer to look up a particular part or accessory.
